9th of July – Pocket Trick Drive

Hi All

The next meeting at the LSM is the Ron Shimmel Pocket Trick Drive.

Perform one trick 4/5 times around the tables and get marked by other members. Trophy awarded and £25 to winner (only paid up members can enter)

Rules as follows:

1. Performers the same trick all night.
2. On arrival Performers will be given a number that they keep all night.
3. They perform at tables as instructed by the organiser.
4. At the end of each round the competitors mark number of the best trick they see at the table on a piece of paper then returns it to the organiser.
5. Competitors are not allowed to vote for themselves.
6. The winner will be the member with the most votes.
7. There will only be one winner who must be a member of the society.
8. The winner receives £25.00 and hold the trophy for one year.

Hello everyone!

So last time we couldn’t do this meeting, due to no one being able to open the shop etc. So we’ll try again:

This next meeting is a fun night to get the creative juices flowing and to maybe learn a new thing or two.

The idea is to randomly pick a magical effect, such as a vanish, or transformation, and then pick random props (which are provided.) and then create an effect. It will all be very relaxed, so don’t get nervous about being put on the spot or anything.

Doors open: 6:30pm

Meeting Start: 7:30

And congratulations, again, to Leo for winning the Card Competition! (In case you hadn’t seen it on the Facebook page)

Next meeting coming up is the card competition! So get your acts together!

The rules are the following:

1. Only fully paid-up members qualify for entry

2. Cards of any size and denomination may be used

3. Duration of the act must not be less than 6 minutes and not exceeding 10 minutes

4. The winner cannot enter with the same act wholly or in part within three years of that contest

5. Judges will be from all non-participating members of the Audience.

6. Only the runner-up and winner to be announced

So get working, and see you all there!

Hello everyone!

It’s the Auction, or Ray’s Night, as we affectionately call it. So please come down and bag a bargain, or sell some unwanted stuff.

If you want to sell something please bring a list of what you’re selling, in triplicate. This makes everything a lot easier for us to run the evening.

Doors open at 6:30 as usual, and the auction will start from 7:00. If you have stuff to sell, you’re more than welcome to come and drop it off in the shop earlier in the day.

Hello everyone!

It’s that time of the year again, folks! The annual Bridger Lewis Stage Competition. This is without a doubt one of the highlights of the year.

So, some ground rules.

1. Only fully-paid up members can enter.

2. The act must be between 8-12 minutes, if it’s shorter or longer than that, you are disqualified.

3. Must be performed on the stage or at the stage area of the room.

4. The competition should be judged by 2 laypeople and 1 magician, and the scoring system is based on “Dress”, “Presentation” and “Magical Ability”

5. No stooges or Pre-show work.

So please come and join us, and watch some great magic!

Hello everyone!

We got Marc Paul coming to lecture at our club. This is a great opportunity to see the man in action in an intimate environment.

Marc will be performing and then explaining his recent ‘Penguin Live Act’, a full 45 minute show of mentalism that packs very small and plays huge. You’ll learn some amazing mentalism and more importantly how to put a show together so that it has structure and escalates in impossibility.

Lecture starts: 7:00 pm

Price: £12 for non members (members free)
